adrift at sea, 21 days after the tsunami

The Japanese Coast Guard announced this Saturday, April 2, have rescued at sea to a dog who was adrift on the wreckage of the roof of a house three weeks after the tsunami that hit northeastern Japan.

The animal, apparently unhurt, was spotted Friday by a helicopter crew, about 2 miles of Kesennuma, a port severely beaten by the disaster, an official said Saturday.

The Coast Guard initially tried to recover the helicopter lowering a rescuer, but the animal was frightened by the noise of the propellers, he escaped by jumping over other floating debris. They decided to send a ship to rescue the dog.
